A Polish community group, The Signpost to Polish Success (SPS), based in Nottingham, has been in existence since December 2005. It was established to cater for the needs of the large numbers of Polish new arrivals who arrived in the city after the enlargement of the EU in May 2004. At its premises in Radford, Nottingham, SPS provides free language classes, help and information sessions and stages social events for this large and growing community.
In March 2007 SPS launched the first Polish language Monthly newsletter, “Nottingham po Polsku” aimed at the new arrivals in Nottingham. In response to the reception given to the newsletter, it has now been enlarged and renamed “East Midlands po Polsku”. It has been given a larger print run and developed a wider distribution network that allows it to reach the new Polish communities across the county of Nottinghamshire and wider East Midlands area.
